Following on my Rules of Success post series, this is my fourth post. You can ready my first post here, my second one here, and my third one here.

Hello again!

Thank you for reading this post! I’m glad that so many people are reading these, makes me feel very proud!

I think you will agree with me that laziness is a signal of failure. How are you supposed to achieve anything if you cannot muscle up the strength to get work done? Lazing around all day isn’t going to help you get your work done, or your business off the ground, but work will.

That being said, working a lot isn’t a guarantee of efficiency. Running around all day, moving from one task to the next so fast you don’t have time to really think about what you’re doing won’t help you move ahead much.

You’ve probably heard of the phrase “work smart, not hard.” Whilst I agree with that, why not work smart AND hard?

What I mean by that is you really need to sit down and consider what you need doing. On my post on organisation, I talk about how important it is to strategize, to look into the future and plan your route to success.

When you learned to swim, you probably didn’t dive into the pool 5 metres up, or swim the length of an Olympic pool, that’s not a realistic expectation! You probably had an inflatable aid, and paddled around the more shallow end of the pool, with your parent or instructor making sure your head never stays underwater for too long!

The same tactic should be employed in your everyday life.

Break down your goals into smaller tasks, and plan those out ahead of time, so when it comes to doing them, you know exactly what to do and when. When you know what you’re doing, working hard will come easier.

Hard work pays off in the long term. Don’t go into work expecting all your goals to be achieved by the end of the day, but know what every milestone you hit will lead you to your long-term goals.

Stay positive, and good luck!

Elena
